Born in Montreal, Quebec, Carol-Anne Almquist (@carolannealmquist) moved to BC in 1975. Her career began at the CBC, where she worked in TV and radio until 1998. Realizing that the work didn’t fulfill her need for creativity, she pursued a Fine Arts certificate at Kwantlen College, studying oil painting, drawing, and art history.

Eventually, Carol-Anne discovered watercolour, which sparked a deeper level of commitment to her artistic journey. In 2017, she and her husband relocated to the Sunshine Coast, drawn by the area’s beauty and serenity—a perfect setting for art and creativity to thrive. She practices daily with the intent to reduce each painting to its simplest form, capturing both her emotional understanding of the subject and her technical skills.

Her watercolours have been featured in The Art of Watercolour magazine and graced the cover of the Sunshine Coast business directory for three consecutive years. Carol-Anne is also an exhibiting member of the Federation of Canadian Artists.

Beth Kluth (@inkartbybethkluth) is a self-taught artist and instructor known for her colorful, contemporary art created with a variety of inks. Her love of color and organic shapes is front-and-center in her art featuring alcohol inks - vibrant dyes in an alcohol base. Beth has been working with these inks for over a decade and sharing her knowledge with others through in-person and online workshops for the last eight years. She often incorporates black India Ink as a bold contrast to the alcohol ink colors. But no inks are safe in Beth's studio as also enjoys painting with acrylic inks and even fountain pen or writing inks. Her favorite subject is flowers, specifically bouquets, which remind her of her mother's love for gardening and how she generously cut and gifted bouquets to friends, neighbors and co-workers all summer long.
Beth loved art as a young girl, exploring different mediums and techniques. But the hobby soon made way for adulthood, marriage, children, and a fast-paced career in marketing. It was a 2014 New Year's resolution that set her back on a creative path and changed her life. Beth's very simple resolution was to set aside one hour a week to do something creative. Her mindset was ""I'm probably going to throw this away” because it wasn't about the end product - it was about the experience. That thinking was very freeing and encouraged more risk and genuine play. During this time Beth discovered alcohol inks and was instantly mesmerized by their vibrancy and unpredictable movement. Beth says her goal is to spread joy!

Afshan Khan (@artby_afshan) says: "I’m a self-taught abstract artist with over five years of creative exploration, specializing in landscapes and florals. Using a palette knife, I build texture and bring color to life in vibrant compositions. This technique allows me to preserve the raw beauty of each hue, creating dynamic pieces full of energy and depth.

My inspiration comes from the breathtaking landscapes of Canada, with its ever-changing seasons. The skies, especially at sunrise and sunset, provide an endless source of wonder, offering a canvas of light and atmosphere. Through abstraction, I aim to capture nature’s resilience and the quiet strength found in the world around us.

I invite you to visit my studio in Balzac, Alberta, where you can experience my work firsthand and explore custom commissions. My portfolio reflects my love for nature’s beauty and power, with each piece offering a moment to pause and reflect.

Through my art, I hope to foster a deeper connection to nature, evoking both its serenity and untamed spirit, while inspiring those who experience it."
