Julia Veenstra is a nationally recognized fine artist whose work, shaped by her time living abroad, captures Canada’s vivid scenery in joyous colour. Her work has featured on the Royal Winter Fair Poster and multiple appearances on HGTV. In addition to regular guest appearances on Hamilton’s CHCH TV, she has bolstered the arts through projects such as Square Foot Show, Artlabel, and now Crown and Press.

“I love those moments we all have, like scents that bring a rush of deep memories. As a child, I would dream of home and security as I walked by different homes. These memories deeply shaped my understanding of wholeness and peace—both real and imagined.”

Her paintings capture said moments, giving viewers a window into their own place of safety, whimsy, and wonder. Julia explores this sense of wholeness through layering and focusing on negative shapes in her work, where vibrant colours and expressive brushstrokes bring the canvas to life, often with surprising shapes and details.
