Show Begins in

Square Foot Show began as a small, annual art party at Julia Veenstra’s studio in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada—each piece just 12×12 and at a single price. Since 2020, it has exploded into an online “Black Friday of art,” with collectors and artists spanning the globe and many artists selling out in just minutes. We love nothing more than connecting thousands of collectors from across the world with incredible artwork from artists they might never otherwise encounter, all through our fun and fast-paced virtual shows.

This show will be no exception. The fun continues with March’s Coastal show, the second in our new monthly format, featuring a roster of 38 incredible artists selected by our jury of fellow artists and collectors. Held on the 2nd Thursday of each month for 24 hours, these shows bring bold, curated collections to life in an exciting and fast-paced format.

🇨🇦 Deanna Lavoie's (@deannalavoieartist) landscape paintings seek to celebrate the wisdom of the wild spaces. She is inspired by the wild spaces she explores, which may seem untidy; however, they have a place for every stone and sapling, and the water flows where it needs to. The cycle of life is often observed in her work, showcasing the beauty of new growth alongside decaying trees. She views the elements of nature’s disarray as becoming harmoniously placed. She utilizes the subject matter to mirror and symbolize not only what we can learn from these wild spaces, but also how they mirror our resilience, rebirth, growth, awakening, vulnerability, and strength. Deanna graduated with distinction from the Alberta College of Art and Design with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. Her artwork is in Canadian and international collections. Deanna is also known for her WWI commemorative art. She was a 2013 finalist at the prestigious Gallipoli Art Awards in Australia, with her piece “A Minute Silence”. Her life-size painting, “The Journey to Remembrance,” is on display at the Military Museums of Calgary. 🇨🇦 Courtney LeBaron (@courtneylebaronstudio) is a full-time painter with a professional background in commercial interior design. Her practice is deeply informed by an understanding of how people experience space, light, materiality, and emotion within both the built environment and outdoors. Through her work, she explores the belief that art is an essential part of our collective human experience: tactile, emotional, meaningful, and aesthetic. It breathes life into the spaces we inhabit. Courtney’s transition from interior design to a full-time studio practice reflects a natural evolution of her creative career. Her design training cultivated a strong foundation in composition, colour theory, scale, and spatial awareness, all of which continue to influence her painting practice. This interdisciplinary perspective has led to corporate commissions with the Grey Nuns Community Hospital, Teknion Furniture, Melcor Developments, McLennan Ross, Kasian Architecture, as well as works held in several private collections. 🇨🇦 🇵🇭 Cobie Cruz (@cobiecruzart) was born in Manila, Philippines, in 1961, and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, majoring in Advertising, from the University of Santo Tomas. His work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in the Philippines, Singapore, Canada, and the United States. His exhibition history includes presentations at Finale Art Gallery and West Gallery in the Philippines, as well as more recent group exhibitions at Drew Marc Gallery in Florida and Earls Court Gallery in Hamilton, Ontario. Cobie says: "I begin on a blank canvas without a preconception of the final outcome. I allow things to develop according to my thoughts, feelings and moods and how these shift and change as my painting begins to unfold. I don't start with a colour order, but find the colours as I go. The whole business of spotting the small areas of color in the canvas, how the edges meet, how accidents are controlled, all these things fascinate me. The colours in my paintings are juxtaposed to support and contrast. They are chosen to evoke thoughts and emotions. I don’t fear change throughout the process. Images are often altered, destroyed, erased and even returned as I feel my way to the best way to bring a painting to life. I call this stage in my process – “push and pull”. My challenge is to constantly push myself and test the limits of my imagination in the hope of creating impressions that are distinctly mine." See more at: cobiecruzart.com
