Show Begins in

Square Foot Show began as a small, annual art party at Julia Veenstra’s studio in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada—each piece just 12×12 and at a single price. Since 2020, it has exploded into an online “Black Friday of art,” with collectors and artists spanning the globe and many artists selling out in just minutes. We love nothing more than connecting thousands of collectors from across the world with incredible artwork from artists they might never otherwise encounter, all through our fun and fast-paced virtual shows.

The fun continues with December’s Neurodivergent show,  featuring a roster of more than 30 incredible artists selected by our jury of Artists and Collectors. For this special event, 10% of our proceeds will benefit Art of Autism who empower and connect individuals within the autism community through participation in the Arts!  Held on the 2nd Thursday of each month for 24 hours, these shows bring bold, curated collections to life in an exciting and fast-paced format. We recognize that current events make multi-national events like this complicated. To help bring clarity, we’ve increased transparency around the origin of artwork and have written a brief letter on cross-border challenges.

🇺🇸 Elizabeth Gartner Howe (@eliz.howe) is an established artist based in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, along the shores of Lake Superior. For over 40 years, she has painted directly from nature and from memory, capturing the moments when the landscape transforms from something observed to something she feels drawn to explore. Her inspiration often arises from a fleeting vision, a shift of light, or the edge of a cloud that invites her to create.

Working primarily in oils and acrylics, Gartner Howe paints both in the studio and en plein air. With a background as a muralist and creator of public art installations, she is comfortable with both intimate small works and large-scale pieces that immerse the viewer. Her art conveys the texture, temperature, and rhythm of wind and water through soft hues and expressive brushwork, inviting viewers into a vivid, sensory experience.

Her paintings possess a dreamy, luminous quality, celebrating the vibrancy of color found in nature and extending beyond what the eye perceives. Joy, light, and the interplay of softness and drama are central to her creative vision.

Though primarily self-taught, Gartner Howe has studied with master artists including David Langevin, Richard Claremont, and Sheila Davis. Her work has appeared in publications, on television, and in galleries, public parks, and private collections across the U.S. and Canada. She participates selectively in exhibitions each year.
For more than three decades, her studio has served as both a creative haven and a teaching space. She believes that mastering artistic tools expands expression and continues to explore how color can illuminate the places she longs to paint.

She sees the landscape as a living presence, shifting in mood and rich with personality. Her work seeks to capture not just the physical beauty of a place, but the emotional atmosphere it evokes. Through expressive colour and brushwork, she invites viewers to bring their own experiences into the frame.
